Good interlayer bonding is to ensure the continuous features of the multilayer pavement structure. As a result, the factors that affect interface bonding play an important role in general and the shear strength in particular. This article aims to synthesize some of the major factors affecting shear bonding strength which have been investigated by several authors. Different research results are discussed, concluding the most influential variables to reach the highest shear bond strength values, including tack coat materials, surface condition, asphalt mixture, and experiment parameters during the test
